Braces or aligners

Your condition will determine which treatment will produce the results that will best match your expectations. Invisalign in Edgware is a popular treatment that we have used for many years with exceptional results. If this treatment is appropriate for your condition and you are in favour of proceeding we will create a personal treatment plan for you. This treatment makes use of aligners which, unlike braces, is not attached to the front of your teeth but is placed over your teeth resembling a gum shield. They are made from a clear flexible thermoplastic and are referred to as trays. Your details are sent digitally to the laboratory which will create a series of trays based on your particular condition. Digitisation ensures accuracy and also that the process is much quicker than before. Treatment will take anywhere from six months to twenty four months depending on your condition.

A discreet treatment

Once your trays have been received by us, we will invite you back to our dental surgery, to start your treatment. When fitted you will see that the clear thermoplastic is barely visible providing you with treatment discreetly. Your condition determines the number of trays which you will be required to wear for a duration of about  two to three weeks at a time. Each tray is subtly different, designed to gradually move your teeth into the position required to give you that beautiful smile. Unlike fixed braces you will be able to remove your Invisalign in Edgware trays to allow for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing. This ensures that your oral hygiene is not compromised and you will be able to maintain a healthy, fresh mouth. They do need to be worn for a minimum of twenty two hours per day to achieve the desired results. During your treatment, we will assess your progress every four to six weeks.

Its finished

When your treatment is over, you will still need to wear a final aligner to hold your teeth in their new position. This will ensure that your teeth do not start moving back to their old position. No two people are the same and we will tell you if you need to wear a retainer and, if so, for how long.
